Hot Hot Hot

Published: 01-Aug-2008

You know it... can't change it... it's hot. So at Enjoy, we say: Go with it. Escape... by learning something new, by taking an adventure to our mountain communities and realizing their generous reception or simply discovering how our bodies work and learning what it takes to make our engines run.

In the studios of our own public access television station, a six-week course teaches the fundamentals of television production. You could be a star! Or in a painting studio, “All Fired Up,” kids and adults create one-of-a-kind originals.

Head for the hills to the small town of McArthur and witness an authentic cutting horse show, where a beautiful act of silk-studded riders’ rhythmic movements on sleek, shiny “athletes” we call horses separate a cow from the herd. The entire town celebrates and welcomes their guests.

Ride the train - not just any train, but the Blue Goose. Listen for the sound of escaping steam and give your tickets to the conductor of this 1920s vintage Harriman passenger open-air car and the Great Northern Railroad Caboose. Look for special excursions of the train to recognize seasonal holidays and events.

Take a trip to our local “cool” museum and discover “Bodies Revealed.” People are learning how their bodies work, how to prevent disease and how exercise and healthy eating adds to your life. Did you know people must consume 3,500 calories more than they burn to gain one pound? (Still, those ribs, Southern sauce and Texas coleslaw look really good about now.) Enjoy!
